School-based violence prevention program offers protective impact for youth with maltreatment histories

Adolescents with a history of child abuse have a higher risk of being involved in delinquent and violent behaviours. The more types of abuse they experienced, the higher their risk.

The Fourth R is a 21-session classroom-based violence prevention program that emphasizes knowledge, awareness, and skill development. Researchers examined if participation in this program had any long-term effects in reducing acts of violent delinquency for these youth.
