Ontario Psychiatric Association webinar: Autism in adults

Autism in adults: an overview of assessment and interventions for psychiatrists

Presented by the Ontario Psychiatric Association. Sponsored by the Ontario Working Group on Mental Health & Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

With the recognition of autism as an "official" diagnosis and the awareness of the importance of structured teaching, the outcome of autism began to improve. This positive change reflects both increased awareness, early diagnosis, and provision of effective intervention-based treatments. In this presentation, we will discuss aspects of the current state of outcomes in autism spectrum disorder today, cover some of the challenges for case detection and service provision, and review the best practices for assessment/available treatment literature.
