This bi-annual award was launched in 2012 and is sponsored by University of Toronto’s Department of Psychiatry, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Foundation, and CAMH’s Provincial Systems Support Program. This award recognizes an innovative researcher-knowledge user collaborative project for integrated knowledge translation in the area of mental health and addictions.
The $2000 award is named in recognition of Dr. Paula Goering’s wide-ranging and significant contributions to the field of mental health services research in Canada and internationally, including advancements in the field of knowledge translation.
The award recipients to date include:
- 2018: The CHOICE-D Patient and Family Guide to Depression Treatment, led by by Dr. Sagar Parikh, University of Toronto and University of Michigan; Andrew Kcomt, Mood Disorders Association of Ontario; and Janice Pong and Trehani Fonseka, St. Michael’s Hospital
- 2016: The Toronto and Ottawa Supervised Consumption Assessment (TOSCA) project, led by Drs. Ahmed Bayoumi, St. Michael's Hospital and Carol Strike, Dalla Lana School of Public Health and Shaun Hopkins and Susan Shepherd from Toronto Public Health
- 2014: Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities program (H-CARDD), led by Dr. Yona Lunsky. CAMH and Monica Neitzert, Ministry of Community and Social Services
- 2012: A picture is worth a thousand words: Using maps to support understanding and dialogue of self-management learning within a recovery-based framework, led by Susan Strong and Mary Puntillo, St Joseph Healthcare, Hamilton
