Working on a new version of Catalyst

The project team is developing a new version of Catalyst. They’re also engaged in a partnership with eHealth Ontario, the agency that established and maintains electronic health records (EHRs) for the province.

Catalyst is a data collection system used by addictions and gambling agencies throughout the province. It allows for the collection of comprehensive data on services provided, treatment needs, assessments and client demographic data.

The new version of Catalyst will include updated technical elements and revisions to the existing data fields. This will ensure single sign-on capabilities with eHealth EHRs.

The new platform will be used for the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Information System (DATIS) — the addictions and gambling database. It will also be used for the Harm Reduction database, a new initiative funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to develop and maintain a mandatory provincial database for harm reduction services. These include needle exchange as well as hepatitis C and HIV services provided by Ontario public health units and their subcontractors.
