Learning objectives

  • Explore considerations for health and service providers working with diverse youth
  • Hear from experts working with Black, racialized, Caribbean youth, LGBTQ2S+ youth, and youth with lived experience of mental health challenges

Panel

  • Kiah Ellis Durity (She/Her) is the Co Treasurer of Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy. CSSDP is a grassroots network comprised of youth and students who are concerned about the negative impact our drug policies have on individuals and communities.
  • Cathy Maser has been a paediatric nurse for her entire career, working at The Hospital for Sick Children for the past 31 years. Since 2007, she has been a Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Adolescent Medicine and is Team Lead for the Transgender Youth Clinic.
  • Dr. Hayley Hamilton is a Senior Scientist with the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research at CAMH. She is also an Associate Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, and Co Director of the Collaborative Specialization in Addiction Studies at the University of Toronto.
  • Kevin Haynes, provides mental health and addictions treatment for youth in the Substance Abuse Program for African Canadian and Caribbean Youth (SAPACCY) at CAMH. He is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Factor Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto.
