Addiction Rounds: Integrated care pathway for major depressive disorder and alcohol dependence - Experiences from our first year

On Friday, May 1, 2015, CAMH's Addictions Rounds presented a webinar titled, "Integrated Care Pathway for Major Depressive Disorder and Alcohol Dependence: Experiences from our first year."

The presenters

Anne Kalvik, BScPhm
Pharmacist , CAMHAnne Kalvik, BScPhm, is a CAMH pharmacist working in addictions. She has worked in the areas of opioid maintenance treatments, medical withdrawal and combined pain and substance dependence. She has involvement with teaching and writing, including as one of the editors of the pharmacists guide to the use of methadone and buprenorphine for opioid use disorders. She is also currently the pharmacist working on the ICP team for major depression and alcohol dependence.

Andriy V. Samokhvalov, MD, PhD
Psychiatrist and Clinician-Scientist, CAMH
Dr. Samokhvalov has extensive clinical experience as a psychiatrist in Canada and internationally. He has received a “Physician of the Year” award for providing his patients with excellent care while engaging in multiple research, teaching, quality improvement and implementation activities. Dr. Samokhvalov was extensively involved in quality improvement activities at CAMH based on several observational studies carried out under his supervision in alcohol, nicotine and opioid dependence clinics of Addictions Division. His work has allowed for proper description of clinical processes and their outcomes at CAMH and is used to guide clinical decisions and project planning. As the Lead Psychiatrist in ICP he has overlooked the deployment and implementation of the pathway, treated or supervised the treatment of the majority of its patients. Dr. Samokhvalov established a working system of data collection and currently leads the pathway’s research activities.

Julianne Vandervoort, PsyD
Post-Doc Clinician, CAMH
Dr. Julianne Vandervoort is a postdoctoral clinician and researcher in Addiction Services at CAMH, having recently graduated from the Université du Québec en Outaouais. She has worked with several clients with substance related disorders and received training in cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, structured relapse prevention, and psychological evaluation throughout her program and two psychology internships at CAMH and Montfort Hospital. Julianne has been involved as a psychologist in the ICP for Major Depression and Alcohol Dependence since its launch and has provided psychotherapy to a large number of past and current ICP clients.
