Harm Reduction Program Enhancement Community of Practice

The Harm Reduction Program Enhancement Community of Practice is a place for representatives of Public Health Units or their designated organizations to share knowledge, experience, and resources.

Specific objectives of the CoP include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support and opportunity to discuss:
    • Conducting  population health/situational assessments
    • Engaging stakeholders, including people with lived experience
    • Leading or supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of a local overdose response plan (or drug strategy)
    • Leading or supporting the development of early warning systems and other surveillance mechanisms
  • Providing evidence-informed / better practices related to local opioid response and early warning initiatives
  • Providing evidence-informed / better practices related to improving opioid-related health outcomes (i.e. overdoses, emergency department visits, hospital admissions, deaths)

 

The Community of Practice meets monthly by webinar and has a designated online space for the sharing of resources. Harm Reduction Leads from Ontario Public Health Units may be added to the Community of Practice by contacting susan [dot] eckerlecurwood [at] camh [dot] ca.
